So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17
Our mind is the original supercomputer.
Scientific studies indicate that the average person has anywhere from 15,000 to over 60,000 thoughts per day. The mind is always processing, even when we are sleeping. In addition, studies have shown that 95% ofour thoughts are repeated. In other words, we rehearse thoughts in our mind and eventually they become our beliefs. Would it surprise you to know that 80% of our thoughts are negative? It doesn’t surprise me, but these statistics should not apply to disciples of Christ because we have the mind of Christ, right? The truth is, we can hear the Word of God, and even memorize and quote it, but if we are not rehearsing positive affirmations over and over in our mind to combat negativity, our beliefs will not line up with what we are being taught or even with what we are saying.
There is a battle going on in our mind, and applying the Word of God gives us the ability to win.
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
We bring negative thoughts captive by replacing them with positve ones. Philippians 4:8 is a good mind-transforming scripture to remember and rehearse.
Finally,brethren, whatever things are true,
whatever things are noble, whatever things
are just, whatever things are pure, whatever
things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these
So instead of rehearsing the worst case scenario, we rehearse what God said.
Instead of telling people about our symptoms, diagnosis, and discomfort, we tell them about the improvement in our condition, what God has done for us in the past, and how excited we are about what he is doing now concerning our healing – even if we don’t see it, even if we don’t feel it.
Philemon 6 – that the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
If you think there is no hope for your marriage, remember that there is nothing too hard for God. Declare your desire and remember what the Lord said.
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. John 14:13-14
Whatsoever means anything (according to His will). And we have to trust that Daddy knows best, because He does.
