EXCERPT – 1
[LAZARUS IS AT THE DOOR GREETING JESUS AND HIS DISCIPLES. MARTHA IS IN THE KITCHEN COOKING. MARY IS HELPING HER.]
LAZARUS: Jesus! It’s good to see you.
JESUS: Shalom Lazarus. You look alive today.
[THEY BOTH LAUGH]
LAZARUS: I am. Thanks to you and our Father! Let’s both try to stay that way. Come in quickly. No doubt you have heard about the plan to put us to death.
 John 12:9-11
EXCERPT – 2
[MARY ENTERS THE ROOM WITH A BOTTLE OF PERFUME, KNEELS AT THE FEET OF JESUS, POURS THE OINTMENT ON HIS FEET, AND WIPES HIS FEET WITH HER HAIR AS SHE WEEPS AND WORSHIPS HIM. JESUS LOOKS DOWN AT HER LOVINGLY.]
JUDAS: That’s expensive oil. It’s worth at least 300 days of wages. Why wasn’t it sold, and the money given to the poor?
MARTHA: [SPEAKING TO THE AUDIENCE FROM THE KITCHEN] He’s more concerned with that money going into his pocket than giving it to the poor.
[JESUS GLANCES QUICKLY TOWARD THE KITCHEN AS MARTHA SHRINKS BACK INTO THE DARKNESS, EMBARRASSED BECAUSE HE KNEW HER THOUGHTS.]
JESUS: [LOOKS AT JUDAS] Leave her alone. You will always have the poor with you, but you won’t always have me. She has saved this special oil, and now she anoints me for my burial.
[MARY BEGINS TO WEEP EVEN MORE. JESUS COMFORTS HER BY TOUCHING HER HEAD]
